The AAC Reimbursement Fairness Series shines a light on the growing challenges affecting chiropractic care, patient access, and provider sustainability. Veterans/TRICARE
Veterans: VA Community Care Network, TRICARE
The men and women of our Armed Forces make incredible sacrifices in service to our country, and the natural, drug- and surgery-free approach of chiropractic care can be especially beneficial to active-duty military and Veterans. The AAC has assembled several resources to help you navigate the VA Health System and care for your community’s veterans.
Veterans Affairs (VA) Community Care Network (CCN)
The VA MISSION Act went into effect on June 6, 2019, with a goal of improving Veterans’ access to health care in VA facilities and their communities. This VA reform law has several components, including the implementation of the Community Care Network (CCN). The CCN enables eligible Veterans to receive care in their community when certain services are not available or accessible at a VA medical center.
TriWest Healthcare Alliance is the third-party administrator for the Community Care Network Region 4, which includes Arizona and 15 other states and U.S. territories.

Keep in mind: If you have previously cared for Veterans through a different TPA, you need to initiate a new contract with the CCN through TriWest. You will not receive authorizations from the VA without joining the TriWest VA CCN network.

TRICARE
TRICARE is the health care program for uniformed service members, retirees, and their families around the world. While the Department of Defense health system covers chiropractic care for Active Duty military personnel, activated National Guard troops, and Reserve members, at this time, unfortunately, TRICARE does not cover chiropractic care.
