When the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team competes against the world's best players, success depends on more than talent and training. Behind every match is an integrated team of healthcare professionals dedicated to keeping athletes healthy, resilient, and performing at their highest level. Among them is chiropractor Dr. Rion Zimmerman, DC, CCSP, who serves as a chiropractor with the U.S. Soccer Federation and has worked with the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team.
Dr. Zimmerman has represented the U.S. Soccer Federation at international competitions, working within a multidisciplinary sports medicine team that includes orthopedic surgeons, physicians, athletic trainers, massage therapists, and other healthcare professionals. His role focuses on supporting injury prevention, recovery, and efficient movement to help athletes perform at their best throughout the demands of elite international competition.
As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP), Dr. Zimmerman understands the physical demands of world-class soccer. Sprinting, cutting, jumping, rapid changes of direction, and repetitive kicking place tremendous stress on the body. Chiropractic care is commonly incorporated into multidisciplinary sports medicine programs to help address joint mobility, movement quality, and recovery as part of an athlete's overall performance and rehabilitation plan.
Dr. Zimmerman also owns and operates a private practice in La Cañada Flintridge and Altadena, California, where he treats everyone from families and recreational athletes to elite competitors. His extensive sports chiropractic experience also includes serving as a chiropractor for the U.S. Women's National Soccer Team, Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC), and previously the LA Galaxy, demonstrating the expanding role of chiropractic within professional and international sports.
The inclusion of chiropractic care as part of the U.S. Soccer Federation's integrated sports medicine program reflects the increasing integration of chiropractors into collaborative healthcare teams. Working alongside physicians, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and other specialists, chiropractors contribute to helping athletes move efficiently, recover effectively, and remain competition-ready.
Dr. Zimmerman's career demonstrates the expanding opportunities for chiropractors within elite sports medicine. From local youth sports to professional leagues and international competition, chiropractors are contributing to athlete care through evidence-informed, patient-centered approaches as part of multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
As Arizona chiropractors continue to serve athletes of all ages and abilities, we can take pride in seeing members of our profession contributing to athlete care on some of the world's biggest stages—including with the U.S. Soccer Federation and the U.S. Men's National Soccer Team.
